We have a wide range of specialist post-graduate level programmes.
Our programmes can be taken separately, and in different combinations. As with most graduate programmes, each has a value, and accumulated value can be used to contribute to our most senior award – the Secure AdvantageTM Masters Diploma.
All courses and programmes can be used as part of your Continuing Professional Development plan, and will demonstrate to employers and potential employers your accruing skills and experience.
On completion of each programme you will receive a Burrill Green CSBS Certificate of Attendance. If you are going to be in one of our university affiliate post-graduate programmes, your credits will contribute to that course as agreed with each partnering University.
Each and every course contains valuable career-building knowledge, whether you elect to accrue credits or not.
• Core residential programmes
At the core of our residential advanced learning service are these two programmes:
The Value from Security Masterclass for Senior Executives
“The world’s most challenging short course in strategic corporate security”
Each day consists of a strategic keynote presentation, followed by scenario-based exercises. The VfS Masterclass is designed for existing senior Chief Security Officers, potential CSOs wishing to validate their approaches to security management and Board Directors and other senior executives to whom CSOs may report.
The seniority and breadth of experience of participants ensures that debate is intense and that analysis of current and best practices is rigorous throughout. Moreover, each scenario is based upon real events, experienced by the course Faculty members, so the interaction is always based on reality, rather than pure theory.
The Corporate Security Managers’ Academy (CSMA)

Conducted under the auspices of the MIS Training Institute.
The CSMA is a course comprising lectures, tutorials, presentations and interactive exercises, covering a comprehensive range of issues faced by actual or potential CSOs and senior corporate practitioners. Such subjects include:
• Strategy Development & Implementation

• Added Value Security

• Business Resilience & Crisis Management

• Threat Assessment & Risk Mitigation

• Organisational Fit & Team Selection

• Maintaining a Secure Advantage™
Other residential courses, all of which, on successful completion, earn credits as part of the Burrill Green CSBS programme, are summarised here.

• How you get a qualification.
If your application to study meets our criteria for selection [ see "How to Apply" section here ], all our courses measure your workload for the successful completion of a programme. We apply a similar system to the UK’s CATS (Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme), and Europe’s ECTS (European Credit Transfer System - equated credits are exactly half the number of those awarded in the UK system, so 30 CATS credits are 15 ECTS credits) in matching course work to points. If you study a 60 credit course you will receive 60 credits ( = 30 on the ECTS points system). This would normally represent 600 hours of study over 9 months, or about 16 hours a week. The points system for credits is explained for each programme in our Prospectus.
In the case of Burrill Green CSBS programmes, you could expect to receive our highest award, The Burrill Green Secure Advantage™ Masters Diploma, after accruing 180 credits, and the Burrill Green Secure Advantage Diploma™ after accruing 90 credits. Other contributing credit certificates have proportionally fewer credits.
On completion of each programme you will receive a Burrill Green CSBS Certificate of Completion. If you are going to be in one of our university affiliate post-graduate programmes, your credits will contribute to that course in equal measure.

• Why we offer our unique programmes
While a number of graduate and post-graduate programmes in security are available, there are often large gaps between theory, historical study, and contemporary empirical experience. Many teachers have excellent credentials and are outstanding academics. Far fewer have spent significant time building outstanding reputations and demonstrable long-term success, in situ, in Fortune 500 company environments. We have worked to close these gaps by encouraging and enabling the very best practitioners and the very best academicians to share their experience and wisdom, and to discuss and debate real-time problems and scenarios, in a confidential, relaxed environment, with fresh groups of successful and aspirant senior corporate security management professionals. We are not motivated by getting things right in theory - our goal is to help you get things right in practice, time after time.
• Programmes in development
We continue to work with established post-graduate teaching organisations, as well as providing new and bespoke services from our own materials and experience. We are building on our core foundations by expanding the range of courses we offer next year, to add to the global scope and presence of our operations.
It is clear from our advanced learning programmes that certain organisations or teams and individuals need to get even closer to specialist core topics, in ways that cannot be covered by the wide-ranging core programmes. This demand is met through more tailored programmes, coaching and mentoring.
We welcome ideas and proposals from clients and prospects, programme developers and providers, to expand and finesse our range of programmes, and the ways we can deliver them. |
